Mpumalanga Provincial Department of Agriculture sets sights on success
Agriculture is Mpumalanga’s economic backbone, and the new MEC for this department insists on nothing but efficiency.
The Mpumalanga MEC for agriculture, rural development, land and environmental affairs, Nompumelelo Hlophe, said the department should always set a good standard and approach on implementing its projects and programmes, as one of the economic drivers.
She said this during a meeting with the executive management led by HOD Mfana Chunda on June 28, to brief them about the business of the department.

The respective chief directors of nine programmes, which are administration, sustainable resource use and management, agricultural producer support and development, veterinary services, research and technology development services, agricultural economics services, agricultural education and training, rural development co-ordination and the environmental affairs, all presented their functions and plans for which they are responsible in their respective fields.
“We need to continue to shine as a department, as I am expecting to maintain a clean audit going forward,” said Hlophe.
She said the importance of working with employees who are always happy is that it will yield positive results.
“It was indeed exciting to be part of the session that will look into improving the lives of the people. Every mhlali [community member] is a farmer,” she explained.
