Heatwave persists in Mpumalanga, but thunderstorms are expected
Keep hydrated and stay out of the sun as the heatwave is still pushing up the thermometers.
The Lowveld area can expect some severely hot conditions for the next two days, but thunderstorms and cooler conditions are expected later this week.
According to the SAWS, heatwave conditions are expected to persist over the central and northeastern parts of the country for today and tomorrow, November 4 and 5.
The weather outlook for Mpumalanga today, according to SAWS, is that a 30% to 60% chance of showers and thundershowers are expected over the central, south and southeastern parts and 80% along the southeastern coast.
“Snow is expected along the Eastern Cape escarpment. Warnings for severe thunderstorms and disruptive snowfalls are issued,” SAWS said.
It also issued severe weather impact warnings for the country. A yellow level 4 warning was issued for severe thunderstorms resulting in damage or loss of infrastructure and settlements, and major travel disruptions and disruptions of municipal and other essential services over the southern and central parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

A yellow level 1 warning for severe thunderstorms resulting in strong damaging winds and localised damage to property is expected over the extreme eastern parts of the Eastern Cape. A yellow level 2 warning for disruptive snow leading to localised traffic disruptions and localised loss of livestock is expected over the northern and central high-lying areas of the Eastern Cape on Monday evening into Tuesday.
