UPDATE:Mbombela accident victim identified

Themba Shongwe was a state advocate stationed at the Mbombela High Court .

The man who was killed in an accident on Monday, November 11 has been identified as State Advocate Themba Shongwe (46). He had been working at the Mbombela High Court for the Tax Unit of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA). He was from eManzana.

Shongwe was killed when the Citi Golf he was driving collided head-on with a Toyota Fortuner, and VW Polo crashed at the back of his car, on the R40 near Church Unlimited. Eight people were injured, including a six-year-old child.

The cause of the accident is unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
Shongwe will be buried on Saturday, November 16 in eManzana.

The provincial spokesperson for NPA, Monica Nyuswa, said: “Shongwe was a self-assured legal practitioner, a brother to his colleagues and a friend to the NPA as a whole. A man of respect to all, young and old.

The NPA has lost an asset who embodied the values of professionalism and integrity. He shall be dearly missed by all who loved and cherished him. Rest well Advocate Shongwe,”
