Man survives gunshot in N4 hijacking

A man was shot in the upper leg by a group of unknown persons during a hijacking near the KaNyamazane T-junction on the N4.

A 43-year-old man was shot in the upper leg by some unknown suspects on the N4, near the KaNyamanzane T-Junction today, November 14.

According to Martin Jeffrey of Emer-G-Med, they received a call out at about 12:45 about a man lying on the ground as if hit by a car in the pedestrian lane.

“While en route, we were informed that he was shot in the upper leg. Upon our arrival, we found the man critically injured, but stable. We treated him at the scene before transporting him to Mediclinic Nelspruit for further treatment. He informed us that he was hijacked near the T-Junction towards KaNyamanzane by a group of armed men. He was travelling with two other people who managed to escape unharmed,” Jeffrey said.

He is reportedly making good progress in hospital.

Meanwhile, a provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, confirmed the hijacking and told Lowvelder he would share more details about the incident in due time. Lowvelder will update its readers when such happens.
