Church leaders gather to share leadership knowledge in Mbombela
The leadership seminar featured some great teachers of the Word such as Dr Collins Dhlomo and Bp Petrus Mdaka.
The Theo Basileio Ministries International (TBMI) hosted a fruitful leadership seminar and conference from November 8 to 10, with key speakers teaching the principles of leadership in the church.
These speakers included renowned church practitioners Dr Collins Dhlomo and Bp Petrus Mdaka.
TBMI’s Pr Sam Ngobe said the aim of the leadership seminar was to equip all kinds of church leaders with teachings and ways to develop their skills to achieve a successful church as an organisation.

Dhlomo taught the principles of effective leadership, passing on some food for thought – being a good pastor does not mean you are a good leader, and vice versa. “In the church, we have preachers, teachers, administrators and managers, and one person cannot fill all those positions. Church founders and pastors need to understand their strengths and be comfortable in them. Leadership can be developed by knowing your skillset and your competence, and balancing your effectiveness through a structure. As a church founder, you cannot be everything. It helps if you recruit people in the church that will fill necessary positions, especially administration and management, to achieve the vision and goals.”
Dhlomo said church founders develop visions and they need to be mindful to not establish a heavy top management structure that will be overpopulated. He shared advice on conducting skills audit in the church and recruiting passionate and career-driven people in managerial positions.

Mdaka emphasised the importance of people taking up the role of being born servants for Jesus Christ’s Spirit to be revealed in their works.
“Faithful serving is an important ministry that every Christian must perform. We are called to serve and we ought to do it everywhere we are placed and in every position we occupy. It should be a lifestyle that it is practised so that it can be more effective in the church as well. One needs to heed that God actually placed mankind on Earth as administrators,” he said.
