Police call on public to help identify body found in Graskop

The man’s body was found by a security guard conducting patrols in the area.

The SAPS in Graskop is conducting an investigation into a body which was found at the Berlin Waterfall in Graskop, requesting the public’s help in identifying the man.

According to police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, the man is estimated to be 46 years old. His body was found at the waterfall on December 6.

“According to a report, the security guard was performing his patrol duties when he noticed a body floating in the water. He promptly reported the matter to the police, Ndubane said.

The body was then retrieved by law enforcement and he was declared dead on the scene by Emergency Medical Services. “The victim was wearing black shorts, a white vest, and had green and red wool tied around his waist.”

As part of their ongoing investigation, police are now seeking to identify the man and his family. “Police are appealing to the community for assistance in locating them. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Sergeant Richard Mabasa on 073 315 8997.”

Members of the public can also call the CrimeStop number (08600 10111) or submit tips via the MYSAPS app. “All information received will be treated as confidential, and callers may remain anonymous,” Ndubane concluded.
