Pienaar DJ climbs the amapiano ladder

Vanessa Shongwe, popularly known as DJ Lady Vee, is a self-taught DJ and aspiring producer.

Vanessa Shongwe, also known as DJ Lady Vee, is one female DJ amapiano lovers should look out for this festive season.

She is a talented DJ and music lover who ventured into the music industry with the purpose of making people dance and have fun.

She said she drew inspiration to become a DJ during the Covid-19 lockdown, which also gave her ample time to perfect her deck skills. “I taught myself how to DJ, and being able to play at events and gigs is a dream come true. I play amapiano music because it is well known and it is helping to create a fanbase and a following. I am also learning how to produce music so I can make my own,” Shongwe said.

While still working towards being well known, she is planning to put another music genre on her radar.

“I want to venture into deep house music soon, as I feel people are more aware of me being a DJ. The goal is to get gigs that will put my name out there and to conquer the world of entertainment.”
