The City of Mbombela has planned an electricity supply interruption on Sunday, February 9, from 09:00 to 17:00.

This will affect most substations in Mbombela, including Delta, Anderson, Steiltes, Valencia and Orchards, and switching stations in Ehmke and Ferreira streets, to allow Eskom to do maintenance and repairs on its high-voltage equipment.

As a result of this planned power outage, Silulumanzi cautioned residents to water sparingly as it expects serious challenges in the abstraction and distribution of water.

The water company said its reservoirs are likely to be critical to empty during this period.

Water supply will be affected in areas such as in extensions 5 and 14, Steiltes, Drum Rock, the bulk White River system, Mataffin and surrounding areas.

The maintenance will be postponed should it rain.
