Man remanded in custody for rape of two-year-old girl in Elukwatini
The man was arrested after a manhunt by the locals.

A 26-year-old man appeared in the Chief Albert Luthuli Magistrate’s Court on Friday, February 7, for the rape of a two-year-old girl in Nhlazatshe.
The case was postponed to February 12.
A Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, said the suspect had allegedly lured the girl, who had been on her way to a tuckshop, into an abandoned house in Nhlazatshe near Elukwatini.
“The girl’s grandmother heard a passer-by raising the alarm that a young girl seemed to have been attacked and was bleeding. The man was reportedly seen with the little girl earlier, heading towards the direction of where the incident is said to have taken place,” she said.
Ndubane said the community members flocked together and went on a manhunt to have the suspect arrested.
“They found him drinking some alcohol and apprehended him. The man sustained some injuries from a scuffle that broke out between him and the people who had cornered him. The police were notified and the accused was arrested and charged with rape,” Ndubane said.
