UPDATE | Four suspects of torching of 51 Putco buses remanded in Mdutjane Magistrate’s Court

These four men will make their next court appearance on Wednesday, February 19, for a formal bail application.

The four suspects arrested in connection with the torching of 51 Putco buses were remanded in Mdutjane Magistrate’s Court today.

The case was postponed to February 19, when they are expected to make a formal bail application.

The four men were arrested for allegedly being involved in the torching incident in KwaNdebele on January 27.

According to a provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, the first two suspects, Isaac Mabena (29) and Luthando Trevor Skosana (37), were arrested on January 28, just a day after the incident. The other two suspects, Mduduzi Masango (31) and Steven Mthombeni (27), were arrested in Siyabuswa on Tuesday, February 11.

“The suspects are facing malicious damage to property charges,” Mdhluli said.
