Philanthropist model plans to establish second orphanage in KwaMhlanga

Zaza Letsholo proves to be a go-getter as she plans on growing her non-profit organisation with a new orphanage while tackling the Mrs South Africa competition as semi-finalist.

Zaza Letsholo successfully runs the Zaza Mahlangu Foundation Orphanage, housing 24 children.

She is in the process of establishing a second one to assist more underprivileged children in this area. “It is an urgent matter. There are a lot of children out there who are vulnerable, abandoned, neglected and abused, and some are living with disabilities. They need all the support they can get from the community. This is not a project that came about now, I always knew I would establish another orphanage, to create a loving home for more children in KwaMhlanga,” Letsholo said.

“I did not establish the existing one all by myself. My community supported me because they understood my vision. Now I am making a call on the community to stand up to create more safe homes for our vulnerable children,” she added.

Letsholo said she is sourcing funds to acquire the property for the new orphanage.

She established the first one in 2017. “The Zaza Mahlangu Foundation has grown so much. It reaches many communities through different means. We still have the dignity pack drive, donating sanitary towels to girls and hygiene products to boys. We also have the annual matric farewell attire drive. This is where we collect elegant clothes and organise a matric farewell party for a Grade 12 class of an underprivileged school. We also celebrate women through the Annual Women in Purpose event on Women’s Day,” Letsholo said.

Through the foundation, she has financially supported three young people in completing their tertiary studies, and she offers career guidance classes to young people. Additionally, she empowers agricultural students and graduates with practical learning and skills on her livestock produce farm.
Besides being a farmer and a philanthropist, Lestholo is also a model. She is a semi-finalist in Mrs South Africa 2025.

“Above all, I believe I personify resilience. I entered Mrs SA because I want to amplify my voice for equality through more action, and, ultimately, to inspire children and young women to believe that anything is possible. Do not let your background define your future,” she said.
