University of Mpumalanga launches Eastern Cape Alumni Chapter

This launch included the election of the Eastern Cape alumni leadership.

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) recently launched the Eastern Cape Alumni Chapter. This marked a significant milestone in strengthening alumni engagement. This is the fifth alumni chapter established since the university’s inception, reinforcing the commitment to fostering lifelong connections with graduates.

The UMP vice chancellor, Prof Thoko Mayekiso, highlighted the university’s remarkable growth and strategic vision, and its mission which focuses on sustainable development and alumni involvement.

“Alumni are a powerful force in shaping the reputation and future of the UMP. You are our ambassadors, carrying the torch of excellence, integrity and innovation into the world,” she said.

“The UMP is not just growing in numbers, we are growing in impact. Our alumni network must become a vibrant ecosystem of support, mentorship and opportunity for both graduates and current students.”

The launch was followed by the elections of the Eastern Cape alumni leadership. The chairperson is Mbali Sangqu, the secretary Mduduzi Maphanga, the treasurer Elihle Madlebe and the additional member is Thuthuka Nyama.
