Taking the Legislature to the People programme a great success.
The Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature hosted its week-long Taking the Legislature to the People programme. It happened from March 10 to 14 at the Simon Gondwe Sports Field in Delmas. The community came out in their numbers to engage with the departments.
On the first day, the public representatives visited various parts of the Victor Khanye Local Municipality in the Nkangala District as part of their constituency work.
There was a public participation session at the sports field on day two. Here, the members of the public could interact directly with representatives of various governmental departments to ask questions related to service delivery.

On day five, a sitting of the Legislature presided over by the Speaker, Lindi Masina took place.
On Wednesday, Masina, handed over small-scale farming tools to the Othandweni and Bazani primary schools in Botleng township.
Masina said since the legislature had visited Victor Khanye, they made sure that the community benefitted from the programme.
“The Office of the Speaker has always ensured that where the legislature goes, it also leaves something that will make a difference to the people,” she said.
Masina said the office has identified small-scale farming as a way of fighting hunger. “The main aim is not to make the beneficiaries to remain as small-scale farmers, but to also grow and supply big businesses in the country.”
