In a nail-biting match, the Mpumalanga (MP) School of Excellence FC defeated Mabila All Stars FC 4-0 in the Hollywoodbets Regional League at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday, April 6.
Both teams had a slow start, but their eagerness to win was palpable throughout the match. MP School of Excellence’s Tebogo Ndlovu breached Mabila All Stars’ defence in the 38th minute to secure a goal.
The Mabila All Stars boys were caught off guard again in the 40th minute when Casswell Ndlovu doubled MP School of Excellence’s lead on the scoreboard. The MP School of Excellence opened the second half with a yellow card when Nkosimphile Mkhabela blocked a promising attack. The referee also refused to award them a penalty when the opponent’s Lorrence Sigubudu was fouled in the penalty area just after creating a beautiful counter-attack that was built from the back.

Mabila All Stars’ assistant coach, Siyabonga Themba, said they are going to rectify their mistakes in their next game.
“I am not complaining since the boys had played another game the day before and we do not have enough squad members to manage the pressure. We cannot blame the boys after they had been doing well in the last few weeks. They did well today, too, but it just wasn’t their day,” said Themba.
Meanwhile, the Mpumalanga School of Excellence coach, Sibusiso Chiloane, expressed his excitement for winning this match.
