Numbi church members robbed at gunpoint during night prayer

The police are looking for five suspects involved in the robbery.

The Masoyi police are on a manhunt for five suspects involved in an armed robbery at the Moving Ministries of God Church in Numbi during an overnight prayer service.

It occurred at about 00:45 on Saturday, June 14.

According to the Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, the suspects are unknown and wore balaclavas during the robbery.

She said they were armed with pistols and took 11 cellphones, two amplifiers and the pastor’s car, an Audi Q3 SUV with registration KFM 302 MP. They used it to flee the scene. “Authorities have confirmed that the vehicle has not yet been recovered but tracking efforts are under way. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported during the robbery,” Ndubane said.

The police urge anyone with information that may assist in locating the suspects to contact Detective Captain David Hlatshwayo on 072 233 7530, or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111. Alternatively, information can be provided via the My SAPS app.
