Khutsalani dominates at Promaths Awards
Four learners of Khutsalani Senior Secondary School make it to the top five in the Promaths Awards 2025.
The outstanding performance of four learners of Khutsalani Senior Secondary School, who ranked among the top five achievers in the Promaths Awards 2025, is a clear reflection of the school’s commitment to academic excellence in mathematics. The Kutlwanong Centre for Maths, Science and Technology hosted the award ceremony for the Class of 2024 at Emnotweni Arena on Tuesday, July 1.
The top archievers of Khutsalani are: Thandolwethu Magagula, first place, Siphesihle Shibambi, second, Yandisile Mhlanga, third, and Siyanda Mbuyane, fifth. Elohim Mahungele of Mthombo Secondary School obtained fourth place.
All four learners of Khutsalani obtained more than four distinctions in their matric results last year. They were honoured for their academic excellence, particularly in mathematics and science, and are currently pursuing tertiary studies at various institutions.

Top achiever Thandolwethu attributed her success to discipline, determination, and the unwavering support from her family and teachers.
“I’m so excited. If it wasn’t for working hard, even when I didn’t feel like it, I wouldn’t be here. There’s no miracle or secret – just studying. Leave that bed and wake up. During your matric year, you need to know that is where you lay your foundation,” she said.
Nosipho Nongqotho, a science teacher at Zikode Secondary School, encouraged the Class of 2025 to aim high and work diligently, assuring them that their efforts would be recognised in due course. The event highlighted the impact of collaboration between learners, educators, parents, and the broader community – a testament to what can be achieved through hard work and support.
