KaBokweni community members celebrate 67 minutes in honour of Mandela Day
A community development organisation donated more than 700 sanitary towels and other essential needs to the community.
In the spirit of Nelson Mandela, community members came together to honour the legacy of Madiba.
Pernicious Nomcebo Maseko, a community member, and others, spent 67 minutes at Khumbula Phondweni Community Centre on Friday, July 18.

Maseko said she had requested sponsorships to make the day possible.“I managed to get help from TLC Pharmacy, Ampath laboratory employees, Busamed Lowveld private hospital, the Lowveld Medical Arts Cultural Society, and Sive Mabuza, the owner of Siya Bar,” Maseko said.
She said that the event was a success because they donated more than 700 sanitary towels, groceries and other essential items to those in need.
Busamed Lowveld donated bricks to extend the centre.

She said the youth performed songs, traditional dances and held motivational talks. Khumbula Phondweni is a community centre that caters for people in need of food, and children who struggle with school work.
