Hospitality learners serve soup, gain skills in KaNyamazane community drive
As part of the #67000Litres Soup Campaign, hospitality students prepared and served food, gaining practical experience while supporting vulnerable children and elderly in KaNyamazane.
Two associations dedicated their 67 minutes to the culinary arts, empowering local youth through skills development and community upliftment.
The Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust (MRTT) and the South African Chefs Association partnered with other role players in the hospitality and tourism sectors as part of their #67000Litres Soup Campaign.
On Friday, July 18, the organisations visited KaNyamazane Good Morning Kidz Zone, a non-profit that provides meals to vulnerable children and elderly community members.They were joined by various stakeholders who contributed food donations and lent a helping hand in preparing and serving meals.

MRTT’s marketing and communications manager, Zanele Khoza, said the initiative provided valuable real-world experience for hospitality learners to practise and refine their skills.
“Cooking and preparing food for a larger group was a learning opportunity for our hospitality students, allowing them to participate in a practical working environment,” Khoza said.
The centre received fresh soup and bread, as well as uncooked vegetables and chicken donated by various sponsors.

Khoza added that a total of 120 litres of soup was prepared and served on the day.
