Boschfontein Regional Court hands down 30-year sentence for double-rape conviction

DNA evidence linked the serial rapist to two additional cases at the KaMhlushwa Police Station.

A 26-year-old man was sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment by the Boschfontein Regional Court for raping two women. He was sentenced on Tuesday, August 12.

The police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, said the first incident occurred on March 14, 2020, when a 27-year-old woman was visiting her boyfriend’s family home with him, his nephew and others. They were drinking alcohol together.

“She later went to sleep in her boyfriend’s bedroom, and around midnight she noticed a door opening and someone walking out,” Ndubane said. The victim then went outside and asked her boyfriend if he had been in the room, but he denied it.
