Pienaar man on a mission to support emotional wellness

Themba said that his advice to the youth is to never stop trying because you never know which door will open for you.

A local man is advocating for mental health through his book titled A journey from pain to purpose. Qhawe Themba (28) from Pienaar, currently based in Southeast Asia, is on a mission to educate others about mental health.

Themba is amplifying unheard voices and promoting emotional wellness through his work as a counsellor. He said that the book explores childhood emotional struggles, particularly of those who grew up without the necessary emotional support.

While some of the topics discussed are based on his personal experience, Themba explained that the book is not about him but rather a reflection of countless untold stories that he has encountered.

“I have seen children carry pain silently, hide behind forced smiles and grow up without people to truly listen to them. Some of these experiences bring up my own story as the book is a voice of many,” said Themba.

Through his book he calls out to the community to take the emotional well-being of children seriously. “My book is about hope. Even the deepest pain can be transformed into purpose when people are supported, heard and loved,” he said.
