Mpumalanga education MEC visits school to encourage Gr 12s
During her visit to Masilela Secondary, MEC Lindi Masina highlighted the significance of Heritage Month and encouraged learners to reflect on its meaning.
The MEC for education, Lindi Masina, undertook a school support visit to Masilela Secondary School in the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality on Wednesday, September 17.
She was accompanied by the municipality’s mayor, Cllr Lydia Moroane-Zitha. During the visit, Masina handed over school uniforms donated by Mpumalanga premier Mandla Ndlovu.

She expressed gratitude for Ndlovu’s foresight and visionary leadership, noting that this gesture goes beyond providing clothing; it restores dignity, promotes equality, and inspires confidence among learners.
Addressing the Class of 2025, Masina encouraged Grade 12 learners to dedicate the remaining time to thorough preparation for the upcoming final examinations.
She urged them to remain disciplined, listen to their teachers, respect their studies, and strive to outperform the Class of 2024, who achieved a 63.4% pass rate.
Masina further called upon teachers to continue mentoring, guide, and supporting learners, while reminding parents of their vital role in creating a home environment that is conducive to learning.

“As our country celebrates Heritage Month, we are reminded that our learners are our true heritage. They carry the hopes and dreams of our nation, and it is our duty as leaders, teachers, parents, and communities to inspire and support them,” said Masina.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” said Masina.
