Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Mbombela celebrates new building
The Mbombela parish of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church South Africa celebrated its 10th anniversary by officially opening a new building and hosting other community development activities.
The Evangelical Presbyterian Church South Africa (EPCSA) Mbombela parish gave back to the community during the opening of its new building.
The church hosted hundreds of community members on Saturday, October 11, and treated them to a free, fun market day of clothes donations.
On the day of the celebration, the church held a 6km race from Matsafeni to Mlondolozi House in Mbombela.
Rev Gicks Moyane said when they did not have a church building they used to transport the congregants to Mlondolozi House. He said they will now also save on the transport money to do more church work.

The EPCSA, formerly called the Swiss Mission in South Africa, was founded in 1875. The presiding minister of the parish, Moyane, said the celebrations were all about adding value to the community.
The ceremony was divided into two events, the celebrating the completion of the church building and the anniversary. The church leader said it was important to prioritise the community and donate clothes as well as ensuring they have food to eat.
“We are doing what Jesus did; He loved giving to the needy and underprivileged. We have people who rely on donations of food and clothes. There were also small children who came to get some clothes,” said Moyane.
