Mpumalanga DJ takes his talent abroad

The 37-year old DJ spent seventh months in United Arab Emirates as well as in European countries, showcasing his talents

Bonginkosi Nkosi, also known as Gratias Deo, is taking his talent global. This year, the 37-year-old has toured the United Arab Emirates, performing in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, and Saudi Arabia, as well as European countries including Georgia and Romania.

Nkosi began his musical journey in 2008, inspired by a close friend, Anerah Yasole. “I’ve always felt a connection to music and decided to make it my career,” he said. Fifteen years later he is enjoying international travel while producing music, releasing tracks with local and international labels such as Herbal 3 Records in South Africa and VHS Records in Bali.

His recognition grew through performances on major stages in Mpumalanga. “I have played on the biggest stages in the province, which opened up opportunities in Pretoria, Welkom, Witbank, and Johannesburg,” Nkosi explained. In 2024, he toured Zanzibar and Kenya.

“The UAE tour was about introducing my brand to the international market and connecting with fans, since my music was already popular there. It was important to put a face to the music,” he said. The tour was funded by his agency, which is based in the UAE and Europe, and served as a trial run to gauge his potential in the region. This success has led to plans for a larger European tour.

Nkosi also hosts events, which allows him to play the music he loves. “My career is skyrocketing and I am fully invested in my music at the moment,” he added.
