Mpumalanga muso attains lifelong dream of gospel artist of the year

The gospel musician won a brand-new car at one of Mpumalanga's biggest awards.

A multi-award winning gospel artist, Gershom Ntimane, drove away in a brand new VW T-Cross after winning the artist of the year at the 12th Mpumalanga Gospel Music Awards on December 7.

Ntimane, from Bushbuckridge, said he is elated and still cannot believe he actually won the award with the car.

“I thank God for the gift and talent of music. This is a testament to the perseverance I’ve shown over the years. I now have something to show for the hard work I put into my music career,” he said.

He thanked the listeners and those who voted for him.

Even though this is not the first award under his belt, he said this was the first time he had ever won an additional prize, calling it a blessing.

Ntimane is always making music and is already preparing to record the next edition of The Jesus I have Touched.

He released “Tintswalo ta yesu” and “Nginekela”, featuring Nomandla Sandra this year. He said the 2023 project of The Jesus I have Touched with 19 songs was well received.

“South Africa showed their support. The feedback I have received from that album is amazing. I have had young people approach me for tips and ideas and mentoring opportunities. The impact that album made is unbelievable,” he said.

He also received a Crown Gospel Music Award for best live recording for that album in 2023.

Ntimane said his goal is to collaborate with local artists and create platforms that will empower them.
