Police operation leads to arrest of six suspects in Acornhoek

The arrested suspects face several charges including the Contravention of Immigration Act of South Africa

The police’s disruptive operation resulted in the arrest of six men in the Acornhoek area on Tuesday, December 16.

The suspects, whose ages range between 19 and 38, are facing various charges including the contravention of the Immigration Act of South Africa, the possession of illicit cigarettes and the possession of dagga.

Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe“The operation highlights the ongoing efforts by the SAPS and other law enforcement agencies to combat all forms of criminality. During the operation, various kinds of beverages, cigarettes and dagga were seized,” said Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe.

The detectives are working collaboratively with officials from the Department of Home Affairs to ascertain the status of the arrested suspects,” added Nonyane-Mpe.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Acornhoek Magistrate’s Court soon.
