Lowveld Walkers members celebrate 8th anniversary

Lowveld Walkers marked their eighth anniversary on February 7 with a themed walk, a surprise braai, and hundreds of participants joining the event.

‘Positive mindset and positive vibes’ was the theme for the Lowveld Walkers eighth anniversary walk on Saturday, February 7.

The walk began at Emkhatsini Sasol, circling back via the Crocodile Valley Road with distances including 7km, 12km, 17km and 21km.

Joseph Mashaba, the founder of Lowveld Walkers, said the turnout was great: “Hundreds of walkers that came out to attend this anniversary celebration.”

Mashaba said when they started the initiative eight years ago they never imagined that they would be able to celebrate so many milestones.

“To acknowledge our members, we hosted a braai and shared a meal as a family. When we published the invite, we didn’t inform them about the plans we had. It was great to see them turn out in such numbers and to be able to surprise them.”
