Mbombela veteran voice keeps SiSwati music alive

A veteran voice refuses to fade Swati traditional music alive in a modern world.

He started his music career in the early 1980s; a journey marked by dedication, resilience and a passion for preserving indigenous sounds that define African heritage.

He formed the Indzabuko Traditional Band in 2015, and they went on to release their debut album Pikiliyeya in 2022. The album reflected his lifelong commitment to cultural storytelling, blending traditional rhythms with modern influences to connect with a broader audience.

In 2024, Indzabuko was nominated for a South African music award, which he believes was a moment that highlighted their contribution to the preservation of traditional music.
