Success reloaded
In my previous column, I outlined my expectations as a young person and the premier spoke about it with diligence.
I know I am starting to sound like a “DD” admirer, but what can I do when the man shows such intellect in his work, and such recognition for youth matters.
He and president, Mr Jacob Zuma made my weekend. The premier delivered his State of the Province Address on Friday.
Meanwhile, Zuma took the hope and aspirations of young people to the next level during his address at the Inaugural Presidential Youth Indaba on jobs and skills, when he declared his full commitment in the pavement of a conducive and feasible socio-economic landscape.
In my previous column, I outlined my expectations as a young person and the premier spoke about it with diligence. I commend the investment in education through the MRTT Academy.
A big salute to the most exciting development between the provincial government and Bhp Billiton on the maths, science and technology academy. The timing couldn’t be more perfect.
I feel it is time we get a youth ministry, which will be cascaded down to provinces to champion the interests of young people in the province.
In fact, when I raised this view with a friend, he supported it and further purported that the next premier should actually investigate the possibility of this gesture.
Anything is possible if young people unite and speak in one voice, matters that will push their economic agenda forward instead of wasting precious time planning on burning libraries and community resources.
I want to take this opportunity and warn those who still treat activism and reading as an option, this ship is moving and ningathi asinitjelanga.
