Right down the line: The world cup sets standard for new PSL season

The teams that did not perform well last season must pull up their socks this time around.

The FIFA World Cup has come to an end, and the French were crowned the world’s best last Sunday. To be honest, I thought France would be knocked out in the top 16, but they proved their worth.
Croatia gave it their best. At some point many people thought they would win the cup. Their campaign was impressive as they have not participated in the Soccer World Cup for years. Surely, they are feeling proud of what they showcased to the world.
On the other hand, the Premier Soccer League is about to kick off for the 2018/19 season. The window period is closed and I believe all teams are above board and ready. The teams that did not perform well last season must pull up their socks this time around. We will also get to see our local team, TS Sporting for their first time in the National First Division season. I hope they put in the same effort as they did in the previous league. It is their duty to put the province on the map.
Ama-Buccaneer were playing a pre-season preparatory match against Zambian teams Power Dynamos and Ndola Select XI. Amakhosi have also been training with Khama Billiat, one of the new players who signed with Chiefs, among others.  SuperSport United have also signed James Keene, Washington Arubi and Luke Fleurs to their family. Keene is an English footballer who will bring experience to the team. This puts the team at a better standing, signing players of a high calibre. My wish for the team is to perform better and not end up where Ajax Cape Town is.
