Splash out on adventure
For some, being countless metres underwater, surrounded by weird creatures, is the stuff that nightmares are made of. Erika Kok thought she would never be able to do it, but when curiosity finally got the better of her, she woke up to an incredible dreamworld which she revisits as often as possible. Erika Kok admits that she was always fascinated by the sea and often wondered about the world below the waves. She was, however, somewhat reluctant and put diving off for quite some time since she knew that she easily became seasick and suffered from claustrophobia.
“I was very anxious about having so many things strapped to me and a mask put on my face and thought that I might panic. Much to my surprise, I realised I actually felt at home underwater and later found out that many people dive especially for that feeling of freedom and weightlessness.
“I honestly thought I’d never be able to finish a diving course, but a friend convinced me to join her.”
