MBOMBELA – An opportunity of a lifetime is in the offing for Lowvelders next Tuesday evening when a brand-new networking concept is officially launched at Union Motors.

Dubbed The Lowveld Lifestyle and Networking Evening, it will give you an opportunity to rub shoulders and share the experiences of our internationally renowned music legend, Ray “Chikapa” Phiri, who has travelled globally, showcasing his vast musical talents with some of the world’s greatest musicians.

Phiri will share his cultural experiences with the who’s who of the Lowveld and he is deservedly the right person for the job as he has catapulted many a musician’s career to international standards. He did so with his own band, Stimela, which has remained high in popularity stakes, the world over.

The evening will also be warmed by the presence of notable actress, Nambitha Mpumlwana, popularly known as “Mawande Memela” in the popular soapie, Generations. Mpumlwana comes to this region after she recently made a comeback to the small screen after a long break.

This will give Lowvelders an opportunity to find out first-hand, from the lady herself, what to expect. She is also renowned for having presented a vibrant motivational talk to ladies here two years ago, when she motivated them on how to be a diva and maintain it, in order to succeed in life.

Organiser Ms Tsidi Lebenya says, “We hope this will be the launch of quarterly events which we create a platform for dialogue on diverse topics, while networking and having fun. We can look forward to an evening of pop-up shops and the audience will experience the best of Gallery Square, a boutique that dresses well-known brands including Ray Phiri, DJ Sbu and many other prominent personalities.

“There will also be local fashion designers showcasing their talents on the catwalk and the likes of former Miss Mpumalanga, Mpumi Lephoko, Lungile Kunene and Martin Nkosi, a judge in the current Crowning Miss Mpumalanga pageant, will be toeing the men’s line.

“We will talk fashion, culture and the arts and I think with Bra Ray Phiri and Nambitha Mpumlwana, we will be in good company. These two have a formidable track record in their roles in the arts industry and I believe they carry the theme of the evening Elegance with Flair, very well.

“Coupled with this, there will be the fun side in the form of local entertainment, whisky and wine tasting. The Singing Waiters, an a cappella group which doubles as waiters, have a trick or two up their sleeves.

The ambassador of Glenfiddich, Thami Banda, will present a unique way of appreciating single malts and Tops of the Grove, will bring a couple of wine estates.

“For the future, we plan to engage hosts from various sectors who will stimulate conversation, ranging from the arts, economics, writers, community leaders, analysts and so on. Proceeds of the event will be dedicated to an orphanage in Msholozi Village, Mama Esther’s Haven,” she said.

Tickets are available at Tops The Grove and all Sneakers Edition Stores at I’langa Mall, Riverside Mall and at The Promenade, at R200 per person. At the venue the tickets will be sold for R250, but you can also buy them online at www.Quicket.co.za
