Stardom waits for Bongi
"The whole province is teeming with pride about her achievements. She has made the province proud. I call upon the people of Mpumalanga to continue rallying behind Bongi by voting for her in the competition. "

MBOMBELA – Season 10 of SA Idols is almost over, and it has caused the province to unite in one voice – Team Bongi Silinda.
Various support groups have emerged on different levels, all campaigning for her to be voted to the top.
“We are very excited to have made it this far with our girl Bongi. It has been a long, yet fulfilling journey for us as a family and province.
We have seen support all through Mpumalanga and we want to express our heartfelt gratitude,” said Jacob, the songstress’ father.
Mbombela all through to Nkomazi has since been painted pink with #TeamBongi T-shirts.
“We have been sponsored by different companies, TSB and SPAR, to mention but a few.
TSB came up with the T-shirt concept, while Malalane SPAR has Bongi’s voting line on their till slips for customers to keep voting for her.
We are now at the top two, it’s really overwhelming and we wouldn’t have made it this far without the support, especially from my church, Church on the Hill,” he added.
The Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation has weighed in on the matter, pledging its support.
“The whole province is teeming with pride about her achievements. She has made the province proud. I call upon the people of Mpumalanga to continue rallying behind Bongi by voting for her in the competition.
As a province, we have done well to take her to the finals. We must now finish the job we started by voting for her to ensure she brings the title home,” said MEC, Ms Norah Mahlangu-Mabena.
It is not surprising that fellow musicians have not been relaxed about the campaigns either. Music companies Akang Sound and The Lab have mobilised, securing thousands of votes for Bongi as well.
“We meet every Sunday, with our phones and laptops and then we begin the work. It has been so amazing and exciting and we are thrilled that she has made it this far.
We are hopeful that she will bring the title back to Mpumalanga where it belongs,” said Akang Sound’s CEO, Musongaka Ngwenya.
