Breaking into the music industry was not a walk in the park for Kwaito artist, Mzansi, but his perseverance is beginning to bear good fruits.
Breaking into the music industry was not a walk in the park for Kwaito artist, Mzansi, but his perseverance is beginning to bear good fruits.
The 28-year-old from Richards Bay has been nominated for best Kwaito album in the upcoming #SAMA22 to be held on June 4 in Durban.
He says getting his first album, was quiet a journey and he’s excited that after finally managing to get it out there, people fell in love with it.
“No wonder I’ve been nominated today. It’s the love from my fans and all my gratitude goes to them,” he says.
Before recording the album with the hit song, Yahamba lento, Mzansi worked with different artists but nothing became popular.
“I moved to Joburg where I started trying to push my music on my own by promoting myself and managing myself, but still that didn’t work for me,” he says.
His big break finally came after he met with Poulten Productions President and the Marketing Manager Mr. Junior Poulten and MTK Masombuka after he saw their car parked next to a taxi rank with an event poster.
He adds that his love for music kept him pushing until he managed to get where he is today.
“I’m grateful to my fans for helping me push this thing. T
his is only a beginning and I’m confident that through their support, I’ll get to where I aspire to be-on top!,” says Mzansi.
