Fashion designers invited to submit samples of their work

"We call upon the designers to bring samples of their work and to be ready to put their brands out there,” said Pilane.

Local designers will be excited to know about this splendid opportunity coming their way soon. Organised by LaPorche, the Local Runway show is calling upon all designers to submit their work ahead of a massive fashion show later in the year.

According to the organiser, Portia Pilane, this is a platform to get them all together under one roof in order for them to get ready for the main event while they sharpen each others’ skills.

“The fashion scene in Mbombela has seriously grown to a point where we can’t continue to ignore it. We have brands such as “I love Mbombela”, “Gifted Gear”, and “Nabalabantfu Clothing”, to mention but a few.

The meeting ahead of the show will be held at Lekazi’s Qbana on June 19. We call upon the designers to bring samples of their work and to be ready to put their brands out there,” said Pilane.

Designers are also encouraged to bring fourth R450 as a joining fee to showcasing their products on the runway.

According to Portia, the amount will also secure them stalls where they can sell their products, and a chance to dress models on the runway.

“They will also be part of the competition where they have to design something unique, inspired by the late President Nelson Mandela. We are also calling on media personalities who are interested to become our models and to just be part of this beautiful event,” she added.
Festivities will kick off at 14:00, details to the main event will be communicated on the day.
