Mpumalanga aiming to end school sport calendar on a high

The games will be staged in Johannesburg from December 10 to 14

MBOMBELA – Team Mpumalanga go into the Summer Games in a buoyant mood, following a good showing of the province at recent national tournaments.

The province is still basking in the glory of the Winter Games athletes who accumulated 9 medals, including one gold, seven silvers and one bronze in Durban.

“We are optimistic that the athletes will find inspiration from their peers who participated at the Winter Games to emulate their medal tally, “ says the department spokesperson Sibongile Nkosi.

The Summer Games is the last leg of the school sport calendar, which started with the Autumn Games in Bloemfontein and followed by the Winter Games in Durban.

All nine provinces will be competing for top honours in the following codes: cricket, gymnastics, basketball, rugby 7s, table tennis, morabaraba and kgati.
The games will be staged in Johannesburg from December 10 to 14.
“As a province, we have faith in the boys and girls to represent us with honour at the tournament,” concludes Nkosi.
