Schools can now register for sports competition

Sponsors for the annual McDonalds, Copa Coca-Cola and Danone Nations cups have announced the opening of the registration for schools to participate in this year's competitions.

Schools can register for the competition by contacting the national coordinator at the SA Schools Football Association (Sasfa), Themba Tshabalala, on 011-403-2844, 084-290-0602 or 072-588-4957. Alternatively, schools can visit the Danone Nations Cup South Africa Facebook page or go to www.facebook.com/dncsouthafrica to download the necessary documents. They are always on Danone.co.za.

Tshabalala said registration will be open until February 28.

“Necessary documents include the school’s registration forms and the teams list,” said Tshabalala.

“Educators have the awesome responsi-bility of providing opportunities and experiences that will help young people to develop their personality and character, and school sport is an acceptable medium to do this,” he said.

In 2017 more than 2 700 schools; rural, farm schools and private institutions; registered for the South African leg of the Danone Nations Cup. Sekusile Primary School from Nkomazi Local Municipality went to the finals last year. They lost the game to Mophela Primary from KwaZulu-Natal, which went on to win the Danone National finals.
