Head on collision claims two lives in KwaMhlanga
Twelve other people sustained serious injuries while six more people escaped with minor injuries.
Two people were killed when a bus and an articulated truck collided head on this morning around 06h00 on R573 Road known as Moloto Road near KwaMhlanga.
The two, one from the bus and the other person from the truck, died on their way to the hospital.Twelve other people sustained serious injuries while six more people escaped with minor injuries.
The injured were stabilised on the scene before being rushed to nearby hospitals. The deceased were passengers in both vehicles.
The cause of the collision is still not known at this stage however, the investigation by the police is underway.
Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Gabisile Shabalala is sending condolences to the bereaved families and she has also wished those who were injured a speedy recovery.
She is calling on motorists to be cautious when using especially during wet weather conditions.
She added that with increased vigilance on the part of motorists and other road users, crashes will be reduced during this holiday.
