Movement set to create 20 000 jobs

The Generation to Generation Movement and Early Rise Security Service launched their project of creating 20 000 job opportunities as a way to eradicate poverty and increase the level of safety within the communities on Saturday March 12.

HAZYVIEW – This will be done through partnering with small local businesses by providing protection for them. Prof Mammo Muchie encouraged members of the community to unite and equip one another with the skills needed to be employable.

“It is only through unity that we can reach early victory. Fighting against one another is not a solution, but working together can help us create the number of jobs we want to create. Our major problem is not the lack of jobs, but our brothers and sisters are not employable due to not having the right skills. Our local businesses will also play a major role in ensuring that these jobs creation come to pass,” he said.

According to Gezaghn Sumamo, the director of the Generation to Generation Movement, these jobs will be created through offering security services to the Ethiopian nationals who are business owners in the townships.

“We have realised that these local shops are a target to the criminals as these stores do not have tight security measures in place. Every week we hear how these Ethiopian shops are mugged because the majority do not have alarms. Those who have shops near the taverns and close late, do not realise they are in even more danger. We are going to create extra jobs by offering proper and tight security to these business owners,” he said. He added people should not take xenophobic actions against one another.
