A University of Mpumalanga (UMP) delegation recently attended the Fulda International Summer School in Germany as part of a strategic partnership with the Fulda University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule Fulda) and Travel with Confidence.

The delegation comprised the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Thenjiwe Meyiwa; Director of Academic Support Services, Dr Maria Madiope; Executive Director of Operations, Richard Flames; Dr Konanani Thwala and some students.

Reinforcing UMP’s commitment to developing globally competent graduates and expanding international academic collaboration, the delegation engaged in academic, smart campus-related, cultural and institutional activities designed to promote innovation in higher education, intercultural learning and student mobility.

The students will also participate in an intensive one-month international learning programme that combines academic seminars, intercultural engagement, innovation, entrepreneurship and collaborative learning with students from around the world.

The visit builds on the growing partnership between UMP and Fulda University of Applied Sciences, which has created meaningful opportunities for international collaboration in teaching, learning, research and community engagement.

It also reflects the university’s commitment to implementing its Internationalisation Strategy by expanding access to global learning experiences for students and staff.

“International exposure of both students and academic staff is central to preparing graduates who can thrive in a rapidly changing global environment. It also strengthens institutional partnerships that will continue to benefit UMP for years to come,” said Meyiwa.
