False bomb threat at Checkers in George
The bomb squad as well as K9 unit were deployed but no bomb was found and the premises was declared safe.
Staff and patrons of Checkers Paddagat in George had to evacuate the building earlier yesterday afternoon due to a bomb threat, George Herald reports.
Police and other emergency services were on scene shortly after the store manager received the call and everyone evacuated the building.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Capt Malcolm Pojie, the male caller phoned in and said that there was a bomb in the building that would explode within minutes.
The bomb squad as well as K9 unit were deployed but no bomb was found and the premises was declared safe.
