Bronkhorstspruit Police find drugs, weapons at school

The search formed part of the Safer School Programme which promotes a safer school environment and to prevent, manage and respond to incidents of crime and violence at schools.

During a police search at Zithobeni Secondary School, dagga and dangerous weapons were confiscated.

The office of Social Crime Prevention, Communication, Visible Policing, K-9 Unit, Correctional Services as well as the Tshwane Metro Police Department embarked on a school search at Zithobeni Secondary School on Wednesday, February 16.

The search was conducted under the supervision of Lieut-Col Sibonile Mlaba, Vispol commander and Capt Sipho Zulu, the head of the Social Crime and Communication section at the Bronkhorstspruit Police Station.

According to Const Connie Ramovha, communication officer for Bronkhorstspruit Police, the search formed part of a Safer School Programme.

“The purpose of the programme is to promote a safer school environment, to prevent, manage and respond to incidents of crime and violence at schools,” said Const Ramovha.

“The school management expressed their appreciation for the initiative. Bronkhorstspruit Police are planning to follow the first search with more and regular visits,” Const Ramovha concluded.
