Bok star to miss start to URC season

RG Snyman’s much-anticipated return to match action has been further delayed following Irish club Munster’s latest update on the towering Springbok lock.

The Irish giants announced on 27 July that Snyman, who has been sidelined with a long-term knee injury, had returned to team training during pre-season.

However, the 2019 World Cup winner has since been ruled out for Munster for the opening rounds of the 2022-23 Vodacom United Rugby Championship campaign. Munster are set to face Cardiff first up on 16 September.

“As RG Snyman’s reintegration to team training continues after a lengthy lay-off, the lock is not available for the opening rounds of the season,” the club said in a statement.

Snyman has had a horror time with injury since joining Munster in 2020, tearing his ACL just seven minutes into his club debut and then, on recovery in October, rerupturing his knee in just his third match.
