Boy (8) mauled to death by dog in Bloemfontein
It is alleged the pit bull escaped his enclosure and jumped the fence.
A pit bull has mauled an 8-year-old boy to death at his home in Vista Park in Bloemfontein yesterday.
According to police spokesperson Thabo Covane, it is alleged that the dog escaped its enclosure and jumped over the fence into the neighbour’s premises at about 14:02 yesterday afternoon.
“It then attacked the child who was playing alone; biting him severely on the neck and chest,” he says.
He further reported that the police and paramedics were summoned to the scene and the boy was declared dead on the scene.
No further information is available at this stage.
