The ANC’s national spokesperson, Pule Mabe, said the party will work around the clock to make sure the conference continues as planned.

He announced this while addressing the media where he communicated that reports from certain structures will be dealt with as the conference is in session.

Day two of the conference began on a good note as the party earlier held its business breakfast addressed by Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana, who touched base with businesses while focusing on issues affecting the economy.

Mabe reiterated that they will be able to conclude ‘the business of the conference on time’.

This followed delays which occurred on the first day of the 55th conference.

In light of disruptions, which ensued amid President Cyril Ramaphosa’s report, he said: “We gave them [KZN branches and other delegates] a space to sing, and after singing we allowed them to then sit down. But when they started banging tables, that now fell into a different province because these tables don’t belong to the ANC, they belong to Nasrec. We had to ask you [media] to turn your cameras [off] and face the president because it’s human nature when the cameras are on delegates and they are singing, they’ll want to sing the loudest. But as soon as you turn your cameras [towards the president], the voices subside.”

He said they expect to vote for president, deputy president, national chair, secretary general, deputy secretary general and treasurer general as planned.
