The George Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is investigating a case of child abuse following an incident that took place in Genesis Street, George, on Tuesday.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies, police were summoned to hospital by medical personnel when the child’s mother arrived with her badly beaten two-year-old toddler.
“On arrival they found the boy with injuries to his face and an open wound and bruises around the eyes inflicted with an unknown object. It is alleged that the mother left the victim in the presence of family members and discovered the injuries on her return,” says Spies.
