While driving on public roads with your feet in South Africa will earn a fine of up to R8 000, it is quite the opposite for Bartosz Ostalowski on a private Polish airfield. The amputee has become a Guinness World Record Holder after sending his LS-powered BMW M3 into a drift at over 230km/h.

The professional drifter now holds the title for the world’s fastest drift while steering by foot. Set on September 30 at Pila Airport in Poland, Bartosz initiated the drift at a whopping 276km/h and retained a drift angle of 60 degrees at 231km/h.

While the E92 BMW M3 is the only in the lineup of the Bavarian coupe to employ factory V8 power, the drift missile used by Bartosz employs a behemoth 7-litre LS3 instead which puts out as much as 745kW and 1 280Nm which proved to be sufficient for the world record attempt.

Bartosz has the interior setup to his specific needs with all ergonomic controls made more accessible for his disability. Shifting the ZF 8-speed transmission is done through a harness mounted on his right shoulder and the steering wheel is repositioned so his foot can more ergonomically control it.
