Police search for gunmen who killed 5 people in KZN

Robbers reportedly targeted two workshops in Marianhill outside Durban, killing both owners and some of their workers.

KZN police have launched a manhunt for at least three gunmen who shot and killed five people and injured the other in two separate crimes scenes which took place in Mariannhill on yesterday afternoon.

Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda says police received information that the suspects stormed into a vehicle workshop and shot the owner and two other people.

“The owner and one person were declared dead at the scene, whereas the third victim was rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds.”

He explains that the same suspects reportedly proceeded to another vehicle workshop just two streets away and shot and killed the owner and two other people who were working at the workshop.

“Three of the deceased are in their 50s, and the other two are reported to be in their late 30s,” adds Netshiunda.

Although the motive of the killings is yet to be established, Netshiunda says nothing was reported stolen during the shooting.
