No stage 5 load-shedding today, Eskom says

The higher stage of power cuts was set to be implemented during the evening peak hours.

Stage 4 load-shedding will remain in effect until further notice, Eskom has announced.

The power utility initially planned to implement stage 4 between 05:00 and 16:00 every day, while it was said that it would be escalated to stage 5 between 16:00 and 05:00 each day.

However, due to the return of three generating units (one each at the Kriel, Majuba and Matimba power stations), the escalation to stage 5 is no longer needed, according to Eskom.

The power utility last night tweeted that the amount that was shed at the evening peak was 5 881MW, while demand was 28 639MW.
