Gauteng police seize drugs worth R300K at Midrand lodge
A lodge manager has been arrested and will face charges related to the illegal manufacturing and dealing in drugs.
The South African Police Service in Gauteng recently discovered a drug lab and seized drugs worth R300 000 at a lodge in Midrand.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, members of the Organised Crime Investigation Unit acted on information about a suspected drug lab at a lodge in Midrand.

“The members swiftly sprang into action and upon arrival, two rooms were searched, leading to the discovery of suspected cocaine rocks, crystal meth, ecstasy tablets, chemicals and laboratory apparatus,” says Nevhuhulwi.
“It was further established that the manager of the lodge is the only one with access to the two specific rooms. He was arrested and charged with illegal manufacturing and dealing in drugs.”

Gauteng police commissioner Lieutenant General Elias Mawela applauded the good work done by the members in removing drugs from the streets of the province.
“We remain resolute in the fight against the scourge of drug abuse and we will continue ensuring that those who deal in drugs are identified and brought to book,” concludes Mawela.
