KZN businessman killed in suspected hit

Elvis Padayachee survived an attempted hit over a month ago before he was murdered yesterday afternoon.

A businessman from Chatsworth outside Durban was shot and killed in a suspected hit off the P228 at Sheffield Manor yesterday – a month after a previous attempt on his life.

Identified as shoe factory owner Elvis Padayachee (64), he was shot twice in front of relatives and employees who he was visiting the area.

His cousin Morgan Samuel was on scene and said he failed to understand why anyone would have wanted to kill Padayachee.

Elvis Padayachee was killed in a suspected hit.

“He had no enemies and owed nobody any money. He was a peaceful man who lived in his own space,” Samuel said.

Padayachee was declared dead at the scene by IPSS Medical Rescue.

An unknown number of men reportedly fled the scene after the shooting and police are investigating.
